Condition Grading & Guarantee
USA Supply sells business and government surplus: equipment and supplies that were purchased for stock but never deployed, plus some previously used items. Because our inventory comes from liquidations and surplus channels rather than a manufacturer's current catalog, listings state a condition. This page explains what each condition term means — and what it does not mean — so you know what to expect before you order.
What each condition term means
New / Sealed
Unused product in the manufacturer's original, unopened packaging. Surplus stock may have been warehoused for some time, so packaging can show shelf wear even when the seal is intact.
New Old Stock (NOS)
Unused product from older production runs that is no longer manufactured. NOS items have not been placed in service, but they may be years old, and age-sensitive components (batteries, gaskets, adhesives) can degrade in storage.
Open Box
The packaging has been opened; the item itself appears unused. "Open box" describes the packaging state — it is not a certification that the item was tested or inspected to a formal standard. If a listing states an item was tested or powered on, that testing applies only where stated.
Surplus
Stock acquired from business, institutional, or government liquidation. Surplus items can be new, open box, or used — the individual listing's condition notes and photos govern. What "surplus" tells you is the sourcing: these items came from an organization's excess inventory, not from the manufacturer's distribution chain, which is why our prices are below list.
Used
The item has been placed in service. Expect signs of prior use. Unless a listing specifically states that functional testing was performed, used equipment is sold as-is in the condition shown.
Refurbished
A used item described as refurbished has had cleaning, repair, or parts replacement performed. Check the individual listing for what was done; if a detail you need isn't stated, ask us before purchasing.
Expired — Training / Non-Clinical Use Only
Some medical consumables and kits in our inventory are past their labeled expiration date. These are sold strictly for training, education, prop, or display purposes. Expired medical products must not be used for patient care or any clinical application. By purchasing an item marked expired, you acknowledge the intended non-clinical use.
Buying surplus with confidence
- The individual listing governs. Condition notes and photos on each product page describe that specific item or lot; where a listing and this general guide differ, the listing controls.
- Ask before you buy. If a listing is missing a detail you need — condition, testing, revision, date codes — contact us and we'll check the physical item before you order.
- No overstated claims. If a listing doesn't say an item was tested, don't assume it was. We'd rather you ask than be surprised.
Returns
Purchases are covered by our 30-day return policy. If your item arrives defective, damaged, or not as described, contact us at sales@usa-groups.com within 30 days of delivery per the refund policy. See the refund policy for eligibility details and non-returnable categories, and the shipping policy for processing times and carrier-damage claims.
