Cantex Schedule 40 PVC Conduit: A Surplus Buying Guide
Sch 40 vs Sch 80, sticks vs 38-piece bundles, fittings and freight: how to buy surplus Cantex 5-inch PVC conduit, with in-stock quantities verified today.
Large-diameter PVC conduit is bulky, heavy to ship and often needed in quantity. Surplus can cut the cost when the size and schedule match your job. This guide covers what our Cantex listings state, how to choose between single sticks and the 38-piece bundle, which fittings to pair, and how shipping works. It ends with what is in stock today.
What Cantex PVC conduit is in stock?
We have 2,580 single sticks of Cantex 5" Schedule 40 PVC Conduit, 10 ft, gray at $45.00 each (MPN 224053). We also have 53 bundles of Cantex 5" Schedule 40 PVC Conduit, 10' long, 38 pieces at $1,900.00 per bundle (380 total feet; MPN A52FA12-5"). Both are listed in new condition.
What standards do the listings state?
The single-stick listing states the conduit meets UL 651 and NEMA TC-2. The bundle listing states ETL listed, conforms to UL 651 and NEMA TC-2, is rated for use with 90°C conductors, has a belled end, is made in USA, and is for underground and aboveground use. We repeat only what the listings state. Confirm code acceptance with your inspector and the markings on the conduit.
Schedule 40 or Schedule 80?
Schedule 80 has a thicker wall than Schedule 40 at the same trade size. The NEC generally calls for Schedule 80 where the conduit is exposed to physical damage. Schedule 40 is common for direct burial, concrete encasement and protected runs. Your engineer or AHJ decides which schedule applies. Our Cantex stock is Schedule 40 PVC. If you need a heavier wall for a directional-bore or duct run, the Dura-Line 5" Schedule 80 HDPE conduit, 40 sticks (299 in stock) is a different material (HDPE, not PVC). Read that listing before substituting.
Single sticks or the 38-piece bundle?
- Single sticks ($45.00 each): buy the exact count you need. They ship by parcel class per the listing. A 10 ft, 5" stick is long and listed at 35 lb, so ask about consolidated freight on larger counts.
- 38-piece bundle ($1,900.00): 380 ft in one lot. Shipping is quoted and invoiced separately (the listing says so, and checkout marks it quote-required). See freight.
Run the numbers for your count. 38 single sticks at $45 is $1,710 before shipping, and the bundle is $1,900. The bundle's advantage is palletized handling, not the unit price, so ask us for a freight quote on both before choosing.
Which fittings pair with it?
Couplings and bodies must match the trade size and system (PVC vs metallic). Check each listing's size before ordering.
How do condition and returns work on surplus?
Condition is stated on each listing. Check the photos for surface marks from storage and handling, which are common on surplus pipe. Quantities are limited and change without notice. See shipping and returns before ordering, and contact us for counts above what is shown.
